Solstice Wind Quintet Produces First CD
PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Solstice Wind Quintet has released “Solstice
Wind Quintet Live,” a compilation CD that features various
performances recorded live over the past several years.
In this CD, reverberation and some ambient sound was filtered “so all of the
pieces sound as though they were recorded in the same place at the same
time,” explained Jim Schoepflin, the quintet’s clarinet player.
The quintet selected pieces that are interesting to a general audience.
Among the works are Lefebvre’s “Suite For Wind Quintet, Op 57”; Debussy’s
Suite No 2; Beethoven’s “Sextet in E-Flat, Op 71;” and Thuille’s “Sextet in
B Flat for Piano and Winds.” The selection by Thuille features guest pianist
Gerald Berthiaume in addition to quintet members Susan Hess,
bassoon; Roger Logan, french horn; Gary Plowman, oboe; Ann Marie Yasinitsky,
flute; and Schoepflin, clarinet.
The album is currently available, at a discount, in The Bookie in Pullman,
WA. CDs also are available by contacting
Susan Hess.
