In grades 6 and eight, the frequency of alcohol use in the past 30 days has remained relatively constant.
However, in grades 10 and 12, use rates have been increasing for the past several years.
In grades six, 6% of the students reported using alcohol in the past 30 days. This percentage increases to 14% by grade 8.
In grade 10, this percentage of use increases to 23% and by grade 12, increases to 36%.
These data, combined with other data regarding youth alcohol consumption indicate that major interventions are needed.
