Since fiscal year 2000, the percentage of students in Region Six reporting cigarette use in the past 30 days

has remained relatively constant in grades six, eight, and 12 and slightly increased in grade 10.

It also appears active cigarette use begins between grades eight and 10.  This percentage of nonuse in region six

is also better than state data.  In general, it is clear more interventions are needed in grades eight through 12.
