In general, there has been considerable fluctuation of students who reported their friends who used cigarettes. For example, in sixth grade the range is between 11% and 20%, in eighth grade the range is 44% to 28%. In grades 10 and 12, there has been continual reduction in the number students who report their friends use cigarettes. In 2006, 13% of the students reported their friends use cigarettes. However, by grade 8, 36% of the students report their friends are using cigarettes.  By Grade 12, 60% of the students report their friends are using cigarettes. This data indicates that additional interventions are needed within Region five regarding cigarettes.
