Since fiscal year 2000, the percentage of students in Region Three reporting cigarette use in the past 30 days has increased in all age groups.  Further, it appears cigarette use actively begins between grades eight and 10.  These percentages are higher than state data.  It is clear that more interventions are needed in grade 8 and continuing through grade 12.
