Since fiscal year 2000, the number of students reporting using chewing tobacco has remained relatively constant for grades 6, 8 and 10.  However, in 2006, the number of students reporting daily use of chewing tobacco has increased to 5%.  In addition to this increase, there is also an increase in the number of students using chewing tobacco between grade 8 and grade 10.  It is suggested that prevention efforts be targeted at the eighth grade level.
