In general, the number of students using cocaine within the past 30 days has remained relatively constant since fiscal year 2000.  Of the individuals who do use, most begin in the eighth grade and used the drug experimentally.  This use rate gradually increases in the 10th grade and stabilizes.  However, the total number of students using cocaine remains very low.  It is recommended that interventions related to cocaine use prevention began in the eighth grade.
