The percent of respondents who indicate their friends who smoke cigarettes has remained relatively constant since fiscal year 2000 in all grade levels.  However, and alarmingly, respondents in Grade 6 indicate their friends are using cigarettes at least a few times.  This reporting rate significantly increases by grade 8 and continues into grades 10 and 12.   In fact, the number of respondents who report their friends are using cigarettes has increased in the past fiscal year at the 12th grade level.  Finally, in fiscal year 2006, approximately 63% of the respondents in the 12th grade indicate their friends are using cigarettes at least a few times and over 30% are using them some, most, or all of the time.
