The number of individuals who report their friends using alcohol has remained relatively constant for grades six and eight since fiscal year 2000.  However, there is an increasing trend for reported alcohol use for individuals in grades 10 and 12.  In addition, the data suggests individuals who are using alcohol begins by grade 8.  In fact, approximately 40% of respondents report their friends are you using alcohol by grade 8.   One alarming trend is that  approximately 12% of respondents report their friends are using alcohol by grade 8.  This number rises significantly in grade 10 where approximately 30% of their friends are using alcohol.  Finally, data in fiscal year 2006 indicate that more students are using alcohol in grade 10 and in grade 12.  In fact, the jump for grade 12 from fiscal year 2004 was 7% and needs to be investigated more deeply.
