ANNOUNCEMENTS
Environmental Psychology
In recent times, environmental issues have received a
lot of attention ranging from global to local.
The University of Idaho Psychology Department is also finding ways to “go
green”. Dr. Traci Craig has been
awarded a grant through the Sustainable Idaho Greening the Curriculum
Initiative to create an Environmental Psychology course at the University of
Idaho. The course was offered for the
first time in the spring semester of 2009.
Students who enrolled gained in
sight
into the psychological study of the environment and a better understanding
of the things they can do to be environmentally responsible.
Conservation and sustainability themes were intertwined throughout the
various topics including conservation, population psychology, and built
environments.
The course is offered online and incorporates a variety of
experiential learning and self exploration assignments into the web-based
format. So when you are looking
for an elective, check out the new Environmental Psychology class!
COMM 101: Public Speaking
The ancient Art of Rhetoric gets a Century 21 makeover
at the University of Idaho. The Public speaking Course is unique among
universities with it’s hybrid partially online format. Several online
news releases about the course led to an article in the Chronicle of
Higher Education, January 14, 2006. The Hybrid format provides
students with traditional Public Speaking experiences while utilizing the
best features of online learning to help students use their time more
efficiently. Students report liking this format better than a
traditional course.
