New Graduate Students - Fall 2008

Career Goals and Research Interests:

Tedd Ammann, HF (some I/O) emphasis—Research interests: applying psychology to entertainment (video games); Career goals: I want to work for a major video game publisher and improve the usability and enjoyment of entertainment products.

Rob Bastholm, HF emphasis—Research interests: navigation and visual search tasks; Career goals: I want to help develop open-source navigation software or just about any other kind of software out there.

Nathan Bulkley, HF emphasis—Research interests:  aerial displays, spatial disorientation, and visual perception. I am also currently working with the Web team at the University of Idaho conducting usability analyses, while being trained in search engine optimization, and analytics. Career goals: as a professional I want to work for an airline manufacturer designing displays for aviation, or work as a junior web developer conducting front-end user research. However, I am also considering an academic option and pursuing a Ph.D. in either Human Factors or Neuroscience.

Kristopher Chenoweth, HF emphasis—Research interests: undetermined at this point; Career goals: I would like to get into product design after my master's is finished.

Laurie Racich, HF emphasis— Career Goals:  Consulting in Corporate America

Austin Ragsdale, HF emphasis—Research interests: factors for reducing human error; Career goals: I want to continue my education and receive a PhD. in engineering psychology then work in the government or private sector.

Nash Stanton, HF emphasis—Research interests: usability, personal spacing, and product design; Career goals: Designing and making products for corporations or industries.

Matthew Strawn, I/O emphasis—Research interests: selection and training; Career goals: I want to develop and implement training programs in organizations, and teach at a college.

Mike Teske, HF emphasis—Research interests: memory, decision making, pharmacology, psychology of religion; Career Goals: Teacher

Dianhan Zheng, I/O emphasis—Research interests: work-family conflict, gender issues, cross-cultural issues, group process and personnel selection.  Career goals: I'm interested in pursuing a PhD degree in I/O. After that, I hope I can work for a consulting firm or teach at a university.
