Course Description:
This course is designed to provide an overview
of neural mechanisms, behavioral responses, and addictive aspects of
psychoactive drugs. It will
also examine the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of these
drugs.

Grading/Evaluation/Proficiency
There will be several requirements for this
course.
Papers:
You will be required to complete several brief papers related
to topics will you will encounter throughout the course.
All papers are to be computer or type written.
Exams: There will be two exams in the
class. Each exam will consist of fill in the blank, short
answer and essay questions. The exams will be open book, open
note, open person. Total 250 points
Term Paper: You will be required to write
a paper on a drug of your choice.
The information should be the most current in the literature.
You must have at least 10 references (none of which can be popular
press e.g., Time, Newspapers, etc). Only four references
can be from the WWW unless they are from web journals.. This paper must be
computer or type written You cannot cut and paste
material from the web Total 100 points.
Grading:
All grading will be based on the
following scale

> 90% = A |
 |
80% = B |
 |
70% = C |
 |
60% = D |
 |
< 60% = F |
Cheating/Plagiarism:
If anyone is caught cheating or plagiarizing another persons work,
they will receive an "F" grade for the course. Note:
Copying and Pasting from the WWW will be considered plagiarism and
result in an F grade for the class. References from the web must
be cited appropriately.
