Introduction:
 There are a variety of aversive conditioning procedures and
they fall into two classes: Extinction and punishment. Extinction procedures
involve the removal of some reinforcer which results in the reduction of a
behavior, while punishment procedures either apply or remove some stimulus
and decrease a
behavior. This chapter reviews both concepts but primarily focuses on
punishment.
