  • Dr. Sandra Reineke will present a conference paper at the 28th Annual Gender Studies Symposium at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, on 05.1309. Her paper is entitled "Does My Body Belong To Me? Women's Rights, Assisted Reproductive Technologies, International Reproductive Tourism, and the Case of German Biomedical Policies"
  • Dr. Sandra Reineke has been invited to deliver a public talk for the Gender Research Group at the Christian-Albrechts Universität in Kiel, Germany, on 06.23.09

  • The annual James A. McClure Lectures on Science and Public Policy presents Dr. Lester M. Crawford, Commissioner of the FDA, speaking on the topic of "The Interaction of Science and Policy to Enhance Food Safety and Security." Dr. Crawford's lecture will be delivered Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 pm in the Administration Auditorium. For additional event information, contact Professor Patrick Wilson.

  • Congratulations to Political Science major Paige Allen, winner of the College of Arts and Sciences Lindley Award for 2004-2005! The Lindley Award is given annually to the best graduating student in the College and we couldn't be more proud of Paige. Paige was also the winner of the Department's 2004-2005 Pi Sigma Alpha award with her excellent paper on presidential use of the 'bully pulpit.'

  • Congratulations to Political Science major Gina Baldwin who is the recipient of the Willis E. Sullivan III Memorial Study Abroad Scholarship to study abroad in France during the academic year 2005-2006. Gina is also working with Professor Brandon Rottinghaus on an academic journal article titled "Voting Behind Bars: Practices of Criminal Incarceration and Enfranchisement" that is currently under review.

  • The Bureau of Public Affairs Research sponsored a panel discussion on the nomination and confirmation of Judge John Roberts to the United States Supreme Court on September 8th. The panelists discussed a wide range of political and legal issues associated with the possible confirmation of Judge Roberts to the high court and will entertain questions. Panelists included: Don Crowley, Professor of Political Science; Richard Seamon, Associate Professor of Law; Russell Miller, Associate Professor of Law; Brandon Rottinghaus, Assistant Professor of Political Science.

  • Professors Don Crowley and Brandon Rottinghaus were invited to write guest editorial columns for the Idaho Statesman's special discussion on President Bush's push to promote his privatization policy for Social Security.   • Professors Don Crowley and Patrick Wilson both participated in the 2004 Annual Conference of the Pacific Northwest Political Science Association in Portland.  Dr. Crowley participated in a roundtable discussion on the Supreme Court and Dr. Wilson presented a paper titled "Forward to the Past:  State Governments, the ESA and Delisted Species."
     
  • Professor Lisa Carlson presented a paper (co-authored with Raymond Dacey) titled "Sequential Analysis of Deterrence Games and the 2003 U.S.-Iraq War" at the 2004 Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association in Chicago, Illinois.
