Moments from the Year 2001

In June Gail and I rafted the Yampa River. At the upper right you will find our cat Ellie tolerating the presence of her Christmas present, a stuffed robin who sings a beautiful robin song by pressing on its rump. (Here are more pictures of Ellie.) Below far left is Katja and I, just before she began a decline because of malignant tumor in her jaw and a bad case of canine dementia.  She waited for Christina to come home in July to finally let go.  (Click here for Katja's memorial.) Christina, John, Gail, and I had a great ski trip to Big Mountain, Montana and had great views of the Canadian Rockies and Glacier N. P.  (Gail & Christina below in our condo at Big Mt.) My fishing buddy Eric Jensen and I had a good weekend on the St. Joe River.  For the first time in many years I almost caught as many fish as he did!

For more pictures from Big Mountain click here, and for the best cartoons of the year click here.  When Christina was in Denmark in September, she scanned some of the family pictures that her mother Lisbeth has.  Click here for a trip down memory lane.   (Keep on scrolling!)

In August my Indian friend Johnson Roosevelt came to the US to attend San Francisco Theological Seminary.  He stayed with us in Moscow for a week and we also had him here  for Christmas.  For more on Johnson you should click here.

Johnson has just chopped up an entire counter full of kale, which we thought was spinach!  The famous Indian dish Palak Paneer was rather bitter that evening! The apron was inspired by the movie Priest.  See it and you will understand.
