"Deep inside me there lives a toy"--Deepak

Join us for this rare opportunity to build ecofriendly Indian toys with Brij Kul Deepak. Deepak is about to launch a world tour to share his skills with children everywhere. They, along with their parents, friends, and teachers, will learn to make crazy cobras, wiggling snakes, dancing birds, butterflies, nodding horses, and other traditional Indian toys. Some of the prototypes go back 5,000 years to the Indus Valley Civilization.

Joyful childhood memories inspired Deepak to learn the craft of traditional Indian toymaking. A trained sociologist Deepak traveled to rural India where he studied with village craftspersons. "I found toys made out of clay, bamboo, cloth, paper, what have you. Yet no one seemed to have noticed their potential for education and ecology." Deepak and his sister Asha then decided to devote their energies to reviving this exciting and edifying aspect of Indian culture.
