Mr B K Deepak ran a week of toymaking workshops, accompanied by a small exhibition of photographs and toys, in the India exhibition in the Exhibition Galleries of the Commonwealth Institute, from 14-20 March.

The weekend workshops were for families; the weekday programmes for school children. The latter were particularly successful, with children and teachers delighted by the attractive toys and games that they made with Mr. Deepak. Monday 14 March was Commonwealth Day and several hundred children visited Mr. Deepak on that day.

Mr Deepak has original ideas for publications and for other workshops and one of the attractions of his ideas is that all the toys and games he produces can be made from inexpensive, easily available materials. This makes his workshops relevant in any part of the Commonwealth, village or city.
