re: Brij Kul Deepak
14 August 1998
During the week of 14 August 1998, Deepak has run two workshops for children per day in the Hotung Gallery of Oriental Antiquities here at the British Museum. The workshops have covered a range of activities from making delightful working toys out of simple materials to teaching children a traditional Indian game and showing them how to make attractive jewellery from ordinary everyday materials such as beans and rolls of card.
Response to the workshops has been very good. Parents, carers and children have been open in their thanks to Deepak and several have expressed to me their pleasure in event. Indeed, adults have participated in the workshops with as much enthusiasm as the children. Each workshop lasted about 45 minutes to one hour, which was very well timed for the age of the children attending the majority were between 7 and 11 years of age.
Deepak conducted the workshops with a very pleasant manner. His preparation for them was thorough and he was always very well organised and well in time for the start of the sessions.
I would certainly rate the events of this week as a real success. Deepak deserves my warmest congratulations and thanks. If you wish to have more details about the workshops, please do not hesitate to contact me.
