This website is dedicated to Deepaks
sister Asha Lata Goel, who suffered a tragic death as the result of injuries in an
accident on February, 20, 2000. In 1970 Asha and Deepak adopted Tanu, then a
three-month-old baby. Most Indian families do not have any money to buy toys for their
children, and this family was no different. Deepak and Asha put their artistic talents to
use by making toys for Tanu. The joy of their success led them to develop various ways to
make toys from natural materials and cultural prototypes. Asha and Deepak dedicated their
lives to the enrichment of children's lives through these wonderful toys. For UNICEF's
International Year of the Child (1979) Deepak and Asha made over 500 dolls on the theme of
"The Magic World of Toys."
Asha was a trained teacher and at the time of her death she was
working with children at the Municipal Board Primary School in Meerut City. She will be
sorely missed by all those who loved her, particularly Deepak, Tanu, and Sunny their dog
(shown in the picture above).
