If you would like an
classroom forum for exploring diverse historical and contemporary
explorations of emotion and the human search for the key to lasting
happiness and well-being, then 'The Psychology of Emotion' would be a
good course for you.

Students in the course can expect:
|
- To explore
the major theoretical and research traditions that explore human
emotion
- To better
understand basic emotional experiences like anger, fear, and love
- To understand
how emotional understanding/ expression/ regulation develop and
shape personality
- To master
diverse perspectives on the human emotion regulation drawn from
influential researchers in the field of emotion
- To explore
and express one's personal emotional experience through writing and expressive projects
- To
explore
course topics by multiple theoretical works and contrasting/
integrating them.
The intellectual elements are explored
through
classroom lecture, discussion, & reflective exercises.
We will also learn through direct experience by engaging in creative exercises.

is offered each Spring semester and also as a web course (though the web course
is taught by another instructor, Dr. Ben Barton). Dr. Jamie Nekich is a
licensed psychologist with advanced training in analytic psychology,
body/ mind health, mindfulness, and expressive pathways to well being.
Dr. Nekich graduated from Stanford University and is full time faculty in the Department
of Psychology and Communication Studies. |
