Some expectations for our student teachers…
Here are some of the guidelines that will help contribute to
a successful student teaching experience.
This list, however, is not exhaustive and is subject to additional
criteria, based upon dialogue with the University of Idaho Music
Student Teacher Supervisor.
- Student
teachers must report to the assigned school at least 20 minutes prior to
the first bell and at an appropriate time mutually agreed upon with the
mentor teacher, on a daily basis.
- Student
teachers must be dressed professionally:
no jeans, tank tops.
- Student
teachers must maintain appropriate, professional relationships with
students, mentor teacher, and student teacher supervisor.
- Student
teacher will have complete lesson plans, including references to the
appropriate National Standards every time he/she teaches.
- Student
teacher will be prepared for every class, including adequate advanced
planning, collection of learning materials, score study, and classroom
set-up.
- Student
teacher will respond appropriately to constructive feedback from the
mentor teacher and the student teacher supervisor by making necessary
changes or implementing suggestions for improvement.
Keep in mind that these guidelines
are general and special situations arise that may contribute to
modifications. Any suggestions for
modifications should be addressed to the assigned student teacher
supervisor.
