The Schuldt Music Library is a media center located in the Lionel Hampton
School of Music Room 102 (phone 885-7240). Is named for long-time music
faculty member Agnes Crawford Schuldt, a music historian and pianist. It
holds the School's collection of sound recordings and videos and provides
listening stations for student and faculty use. These collections do not
circulate except to faculty for teaching purposes. The CD collection can
be searched online and the video and LP collections are accessed through
a card catalogue in the library. A small seminar room is equipped for group
listening activities.
The library’s web page also provides access to streamed listening
collections (“Listening Resources”) for many music courses and
studios.
The Schuldt Library also contains a collection of miniatures scores of
standard repertoire, a few reference works, and piano and music education
collections. All of these circulate to students and faculty.
The Schuldt Music Library is staffed by U.I. students with work-study hours
under the supervision of a professional. Hours of operation are generally
8 to 10 Monday-Thursday, 8-5 Friday, and weekend afternoons. The Schuldt
Library is normally closed when classes are not in session and during
summer term. If you would like to work in the library, contact the Student
Financial Aid office to see if you qualify for work-study hours. If so,
visit the music office (Music Building room 206, 885-6231) for a brief interview.
The University of Idaho library contains the bulk of music resources at the UI.
Frequently used items at the main library include:
