Director of Choral Activities
Tenure-track appointment beginning 2008-2009
Lionel Hampton School of Music
Responsibilities:
· Conduct the Vandaleers Concert Choir (students admitted by audition)
· Conduct University Chorus (student audition not required)
· Teach studio voice according to the needs of the department
· Provide vision and leadership in the development of choral/vocal studies
· Other teaching opportunities as time, expertise, and departmental needs require
· Participate in recruiting, advising and committee work
Required Qualifications:
· Doctorate degree or Master’s degree with significant full-time experience at the college level
· Record of success as a choral director at the college level
· Record of success in recruitment and retention
· Studio teaching experience, preferably at the college level
· Evidence of ability to administer a comprehensive choral program, preferably at the college level
Desired Qualifications:
· Ability to interact with choir directors and prospective students through such activities as workshops, festivals, master classes and adjudications.
· Active record of scholarship and/or creative work
Appointment:
· Rank: Assistant Professor, negotiable up to Associate Professor based on qualifications
· Tenure track, nine month contract
