Audition Requirements

In-Person Auditions

Schedule an audition by completing the Audition Information Form.  Priority for admission and scholarships is given to students who audition by February 28, 2009.  Most students audition during our Audition Day on Saturday, February 7, 2009.   You may also schedule an audition during the week. Vocalists are welcome to bring their own accompanist.  If this is not possible, a pianist will be provided to sight-read the accompaniment. Instrumental auditions are normally heard unaccompanied. Click here for Recommended Repertoire.

Recorded Auditions

Since in-person auditions are not possible for all students, we also welcome auditions via recording. Please complete the Audition Information Form prior to sending  in your recording.   Please use a high-quality cassette, CD or DVD and mark it clearly with your name and instrument or voice type. If you are auditioning on more than one instrument, put each instrument on separate media.. Remember to listen to the copy of your recording before sending it; recordings sometimes arrive with inaudible auditions! All recordings become the property of the Lionel Hampton School of Music and will not be returned. Click here for Recommended Repertoire.

Please send recorded auditions to the address below:
