Style Sheet for the Martin Journal of Peace Research, Martin Journal of Conflict Resolution, and Martin Monograph Series. Adopted by the Martin Institute Editorial Board (Dr. Jack E. Vincent, Dr. Joel Hamilton, Dr. Richard Spence, Dr. Rand Lewis).

INITIAL SUBMISSION: Send one copy in WORD.DOC as an attached file to vincentj@uidaho.edu

FINAL SUBMISSION: This style sheet applies to all articles that will be hard published by the Martin Archives (exceptions to the style sheet requirements are acceptable with permission of the Editor). Compliance with the Style Sheet is the responsibility of the author.

ABSTRACTS

A concise abstract of no more than 200 words should be included at the beginning of the article.

LENGTH

Articles longer that 35 pages should be submitted to the Martin Monograph Series.

FONT/SPACING

Final copy should be in 10 point font,single spaced.

MARGINS

Top and bottom margins should be 1.0 inches. Left and Right margins should be 1.0 inches.

TITLE AND HEADINGS

The title should be in bold print, all capitalized, centered at the top of the first page of both the Abstract and the main body of the submission, separated from the body of each by two spaces.

Headings for sections or chapters should be on the left margin, in bold print and all capitalized, separated from the body of both the preceding and following paragraphs by two spaces.

PAGE NUMBERING

Each page of the submission should be numbered, in sequence beginning with the first page at the bottom center of the page.

CITATIONS/QUOTES

Quotations from, or citations to, other works should be appropriately identified (i.e. quotation marks where appropriate), and use the following form : (Smith, 1970:21).

REFERENCES

References should go at the end of the article and be alphabetized by last name. Use the following style:

Smith, Robert E. 1990 World Peace, Beverly Hills: Sage,

for books,

and,

Smith, Robert E. "Bosnia: A Case Study in Violence," New Journal 10 (1991) pp.35-70.

for articles.

TABULAR MATERIAL

All tables, graphs, charts and appendices should appear at the end of the article prior to the references in the order given here.

SPELLING/GRAMMAR

Use of proper English grammar is not only encouraged, it is a condition of publication. Submissions which are not clearly written or which contain grammatical errors will not be accepted. Every submission should be checked carefully for spelling errors prior to submission.

ACCEPTANCE or REJECTION

Martin Archives reserves the absolute right to accept or reject each and every submission based on its merit, as determined by its editorial board, which includes suitability for publication by the Archives in terms of content, style, and form.

Martin Archives reserves the right to make minor corrections to form, i.e., spelling and double words, etc. Submissions should be of sufficient quality as to both form and content to warrant publication in a high quality journal. Submissions not meeting this standard, as determined by the Martin Archives editorial board, will not be accepted.
