PSYCHOLOGY 330: HUMAN SEXUALITY
Fall, 2009
(Note: this website is for the "live" version, not the
"web" version, of this course)
Course Description: An introduction to human sexuality, including the
physiology of sexual and reproductive organs and processes, the variations in
sexual experience and expression across individuals and over the lifespan, and
the interpersonal and social aspects of sexuality.
Required Text: Hyde, J. & DeLamater, J. (2008).
Understanding Human Sexuality (10th Ed.). New York: McGraw-Hill.
Grading :
- There will be four non-cumulative 50-item multiple-choice examinations.
Each item will be worth one point. Each exam will cover material from both
the readings and the lectures.
- There will be approximately 20 brief pass/fail homework assignments. Some
assignments may ask personal questions. You may choose not to answer
particular questions, but in order to get credit you must write down your
reasons for not answering. Homeworks submitted in class the day the homework
is due are worth 1 point. Homeworks submitted by the end of the subsequent
class session are worth .5 points. Homeworks will not be accepted after that
point or at any time outside of class or by e-mail unless accompanied by a
documented excuse (i.e., a note from a doctor for medical conditions or from
the university for family emergencies or athletic events). If you misplace a
homework, the current homework will be posted at
www.class.uidaho.edu/klocke/330hwk.htm.
You may participate in psychology experiments for extra credit. You will
receive 2 points of extra credit for every half hour of participation up to
a maximum of 10 points. You can sign up for experiments at
http://uidaho.sona-systems.com.
After the first exam, a spreadsheet showing
scores for the exams and homework will be posted to
www.class.uidaho.edu/klocke/330grades.htm
approximately every two weeks.
Final grades will be based on the number of points you accumulate divided
by the possible number of points (200 + the number of homework assignments),
with 90% = A, 80% = B, 70% = C, 60% = D.
If you happen to miss one of the lectures, and are
interested in seeing the corresponding lecture from the web-based on-line
version of this course, you can click
here (use the
login "psyc330" and the password "330Psych"). You will see
the schedule for that course and can, by clicking on the appropriate topic,
access the lecture slide and text. (But remember the web course is a different course, so
ignore their assignments and deadlines! Also, their slides and lectures may be slightly different from the ones in our
course.)
