Extra Credit Opportunities - Honors Ethics

For UI/WSU Colloquium Series and other lectures please attend event and take notes.  Turn in notes with your name, class and section for three points each. For plays bring program and write a paragraph evaluation for 4 points.  For films write a paragraph evaluation for 3 points.  

Four extra credit opportunities do not require attending an event.  They are as follows:  

Read James and Stuart Rachels on Subjectivism from their book on regular reserve, The Elements of Moral Philosophy, and turn in an outline of  key points - 5 points extra credit.

Read Mary Midgely,  "On Trying Out One's New Sword"  which is available in her book, Heart and Mind:  The Varieties of Moral Experience.  The chapter is available on e-reserve..  Turn in an outline of her key points - 5 points extra credit.  She addresses some issues of cultural relativism.  

Read James and Stuart Rachels on "The Challenge of Cultural Relativism" from their book on regular reserve, The Elements of Moral Philosophy (on e-reserve soon).   Turn in an outline of key points - 5 points extra credit.

Watch an episode of "Justice with Michael Sandel"  at http://justiceharvard.org/  Pick one main point and give your position on it in a paragraph.  4 points.

A total of 12 points of extra credit may be earned on extra credit opportunities.
