Cultural Diversity and the Media

WARNINGS!

This class is a discussion class that will include issues concerning race, culture, gender, sexual identity, socio-economic class status, handicapping conditions, age, various family units and concepts of violence and how the media impacts each group/issue plus how the groups/issues impact the media. There will be frank discussions on each subject.

Due to the frank and perhaps graphic nature of the discussions, each subject will be handled with fairness and dignity. There will be no tolerance for name calling or derogatory remarks. Maturity and decorum will be maintained at all times. This course and the university enhances and promotes the free exchange of ideas in an environment that celebrates dignity, worth and contributions of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

As an additional heads-up, this class is not designed for linear thinking. The subjects in this class are not a march through topics and we will use a depth  (vertical) thinking as well as traditional linear thinking. Critical thinking skills are required.
