| Welcome to JAMM 252 - Principles of Public Relations!
This is a fast-paced course designed to help you understand the concepts and ideas behind effective public relations. As a former public relations professional, I promise there will be a lot of hands-on, real-world application designed to help you understand what it means to be a PR practitioner. For information about me, my name is Dr. Becky Tallent (please call me Becky) and I have spent 18 years as someone who works with the news media pitching stories, developing PR campaigns for clients, performing in-house PR activities (including newsletters, magazines and event planning) and working with targeted audiences to distribute information about my clients. For some reason, I became an expert in crisis communications and am adept at working with clients in critical times - yes, I do have stories to tell. Some of my clients have included the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority, The University Hospitals, the University Hospitals Authority & Trust, the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Tidal School Vineyards, the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board, Epworth Villa, Grace Living Centers and the City of Lawton, OK. Why so many? My last employer was a PR agency, Evergreen Productions, Inc. Please make sure to check back often for additional information about assignments and the PowerPoints that will be posted to this Web site. |
