Julie Scott and Glenn Mosley won a second place award in the Sports News Report category in the 2008 Idaho Press Club competition. Their September 2008 story for Northwest Public Radio focused on efforts by UI alumna and NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Kramer to improve retirement benefits for former NFL players.

Ask college students where they learn about national politics and many respond: “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.” Relying on a comedy show for political news might be worrisome, but not to Kenton Bird, director of the University of Idaho’s School of Journalism and Mass Media. Research conducted by Bird and three colleagues suggests that students find non-traditional news sources, such as “The Daily Show,” more credible than traditional news media.
