Ask college students where they
learn about national politics and many respond: “The Daily Show With Jon
Stewart.” Relying on a comedy show for political news might be worrisome,
but not to Kenton Bird, director of the University of Idaho’s School of
Journalism and Mass Media. Research conducted by Bird and three colleagues
suggests that students find non-traditional news sources, such as “The Daily
Show,” more credible than traditional news media.
