110th-year Reunion
The Argonaut, the
University of Idaho's independent
student newspaper, was founded in the fall of 1898.
This year, join former Argonaut editors and staff members for
a reunion to celebrate 11 decades of freedom of the press on campus.

Staff and
survivors of service on the Idaho Argonaut with long but positive memories
are solicited to "Save the Dates" for several days of socializing this fall
when a two-day 110th anniversary reunion and party will be held on the
Moscow campus.
The event will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11, 2008
with a slew of both scheduled and semi-organized activities, including a
whoop-de-do banquet Saturday evening at the SUB. These activities include
panels, no-host social hours, breakfasts, and tours of student media spaces,
including the massively upgraded KUID-TV studio production facilities and
the arboretum.
Ancillary activities are being devised and developed for Thursday and
possibly Sunday. The anniversary was conceived at the request of University
of Idaho School of JAMM (Journalism and Mass Media) director Kenton Bird
(Argonaut editor 1974-75). He was also the moving force behind the 100th
anniversary ten years ago.
In addition to former Arghies, announcement-invitations are being sent to
participants in the other SUB 3rd Floor student media. These include
KUOI-FM, Photo Bureau ["Phozone"], Gem of the Mountains, Reprographics
[production], Advertising and Blot.
The reunion is being organized by an ad hoc interim temporary steering
committee in close cooperation with the University of Idaho School of JAMM,
the College of Letters Arts and Social Sciences; Alumni Relations Office;
and ASUI Student Media. The committee is headed by Suzanne Gore (Argh editor
1982; advertising manager 1983-86). She is supported (so far) by Elaine
Ambrose, Kathy Barnard LaPointe and John Hecht.
A call is also being made for more Alumni to be involved as “Decade
Contacts” to help find people, serve on Reunion Committee and/or Student
Panels during the anniversary weekend.
