SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE

New undergraduate students need only submit the Application for Admission, which includes an Admission/Scholarship Information Form, for merit-based scholarships and out-of-state tuition waivers. No other applications are required. If you are coming in as a graduate student, we will receive all the information from your graduate application for admissions; no separate forms are necessary. Students interested in graduate assistantships (Teaching or Research Assistantships) should check with their academic department.

All continuing UI students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships as long as they have 9 credits or more in the spring semester of the preceding academic year. The exception to this is the Nixon Scholarship, for which you must apply to the English department.  See NIXON APPLICATION FORMS.

Students must submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to the US Department of Education Federal Processor to be considered for need-based scholarships and federal aid.

For priority consideration, the Admission Application must reach UI by February 1. The FAFSA (hard copy or electronic version) must be received by the processor by February 1.

Applications for Nixon Scholarships, however, at both graduate and undergraduate levels, are due March 1, 2005
