The
University of Idaho offers a BA in English, with an emphasis in creative
writing, as well as the Master of Fine Arts. UI's MFA program is an
intense, three-year course of study that focuses on teaching, and
learning, the craft of writing. Students may specialize in poetry,
fiction, or nonfiction, but we actively encourage students to
cross-pollinate, to work and study outside their usual area of emphasis.
Our teachers are themselves practicing, publishing writers. Teaching
assistantships, as well as fellowships, are available to the most
qualified applicants. To read more about the
MFA program, click here.
There are seven members of the creative
writing faculty. Click here to read more
about them.
In addition to its degree programs, Creative Writing sponsors a series
of literary readings throughout the school year, including readings by
Distinguished Visiting Writers, who visit the campus for a week and teach
a graduate class. Click here to read about the
Distinguished Visiting Writers Series. To access
