This course covers
how to effectively meet the needs of professional communication that students in science, engineering, and technology will
encounter in their careers.
Instruction will cover concepts that inform valid
research design as well as how to use language,
structure, and illustration to meet the needs of readers
with varying levels of technical expertise.
The centerpiece of the course is a series of sequenced
assignments stemming from a research project
students will design and complete during the semester.
The project may be collaborative.
Students are encouraged to work within their field of
study and apply research required for another course (or
on the job) to meet the project requirements for English
317.
Students will also complete a skills-based resume and
letter of application. These documents may be aimed at
applying for a job, internship, or graduate school.
This course is open to junior and senior-level
students only. |
