Jan 26 Poem #1 revised due. Read Fairchild to page 38. Poem # 2 (Fairchild imitation) assigned.

 

Jan 31 Finish reading Fairchild. Poem # 2 (Fairchild imitation) draft due.

Feb. 1 - Mary Clearman Blew reads, 7:30, Law Courtroom.

Feb 2 Discussion /critique of Fairchild drafts. Poem #3 (love poem—YES!) assigned. Read assigned love poems.

Feb 7 Poem # 2 revised due.

TBA visiting poet in class.

 

9 Discussion of love poems. Poem #3 (love poem) draft due.

Feb 14 Love Poem #3 revision due. Read half of Calvocoressi. Discussion of craft analysis and assignment.

Poem #4 (history point of view poem) assigned. Sign up for conferences (on poems #2 and #3). Hand in both poems for conferences to the assigned instructor.

16 Conferences instead of class. Bring Poem #3 with you to your conference if you haven’t already given it to the appropriate instructor. Finish Calvocoressi. Benjamin Percy reads. Finish Calvocoressi.

*Substantially revise two of the poems you have workshopped to hand in April 26. Attach to an original so that the contrast between your draft and your polished poem will be evident.

 

In general:  When we have workshops, you will need to bring typed hard copies for everyone (including the instructor) to class.  All poems will be workshopped in draft form, the best draft you can produce without class input.  The two required revisions of workshopped poems are due on April 26.
