Letter of Transmittal Outline

 

Treat the following as a basic outline for your report's letter of transmittal.  Usually, each section can be a paragraph.

 

 

I. Introduce the report by telling or reminding the reader who authorized the work and the purpose the report fulfills?

 

II. Summarize your conclusion and recommendations?

 

 

III. General Content:

                       

            ___ Mention any points of special interest.

 

___ Indicate minor problems you encountered in your investigation and show how you surmounted them.

           

___ Thank the people who helped you.

           

___ Point out additional research if necessary.

 

 

IV. Thank the reader for the opportunity to do the work and his or her time.  As usual, specifics are good here.

 

Make sure to:

Correctly format as a letter  Is it correctly addressed and signed?

 

Make the writer appear educated and professional: Is the letter well edited?
