Preparing to Work on the Feasibility Proposal and Report
There are up to three assignments involved with this assignment:
1) Emailed mini-proposal/abstract
2) Proposal
3) Report
Criteria for topics:
a) The problem or issue, topic etc. must be real, actual.
~ You should be able to address the report to a specific person in specific group or organization who will give your
recommendations serious consideration.
~ Hand in two copies of the final report with a stamped (unless addressed to someone on campus) and
appropriately addressed large envelope, and I will send the report to the specific person to ensure it gets there.
b) The topic must:
~ Be appropriate to a mid-size research report (don't solve
global warming; do address campus recycling)
~ Be open to a reasonable specific solution that you can outline in
the report itself
~ Allow you to use existing research resources in the time given (library, internet, interviews, surveys) .
d) You may not, generally:
~ Use a topic you are currently researching for another class
~ Recycle a report from a past course
~ Use someone else’s report
~ Do anything that has anything to do with parking!
Consider the following examples from past courses:
Eliminating tickets for parking downtown after 2 a.m.
Build a bowling alley
Feasibility of promoting concerts in the Kibbie Dome
Canceling upper-division courses during Job Fair; promoting Job Fair
Analysis of Big West Conference budget allocations and my recommendation for keeping rising costs from lessening the value of our current budget.
Recommendations for improving field experience for pre-service teachers a the University of Idaho.
Proposal that each of the 16 resident Moscow Volunteer Fire Dept. students receive a 500 dollar scholarship.
Proposal for new programs to assist new transfer students.
“Benefits of Designated Smoking Areas at North Idaho College”
Developing Varsity Level Women’s Softball
Raising the Academic Standard’s for Scholarship Eligible Student Athletes
Moscow Ice-Rink Feasibility Study
University Residences No Booger Picking Policy Feasibility
Recommendation to End On-the-Field Ass-Grabbing During Vandal Home-games
As you can see, choosing an “interesting topic” is less important than addressing real issues related to your field that may actually be solved by
implementing your recommendation.
