READING: About 1000 pages from the Norton Anthology of World Masterpieces, Vol. 1, 7TH edition; Hamlet: An Authoritative Text..Norton Critical Edition, 2nd edition.
RECOMMENDED READING: Matthews/Platt, The Western Humanities, Vol. 1, 3rd edition
ATTENDANCE: Required (no more than three unexcused absences allowed). IF YOUR BODY IS IN CLASS EVERY SESSION, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE THE FULL 50 POINTS FOR CLASS PARTICIPATION. Missing more than the allotted number of classes may cause you to fail the course and will most certainly affect your grade.
EXAMS: three, combining objective questions and essays
ADDITIONAL WRITING:
-Reviews of two English department-sponsored readings or one reading plus Macbeth (see 257 web page for guidelines)
-Short writing assignments based on texts, as assigned
CLASS PARTICIPATION/QUIZZES/SHORT WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS/PRESENTATIONS
POINTS ARE AWARDED AS FOLLOWS:
Exam #1 = 100
Exam #2 = 100
Final Exam = 125
Two Reviews = 25 (must turn in both of them to get these points)
Quizzes/ Participation/Short Writing Assignments = 50
A = 360-400
B = 320-359
C = 280-319
D = 240-279
