Drake English 207

Final Project:
    Argument Strategy Outline and Description...............10%

Most of this semester has been spent formally analyzing arguments, identifying the Lines of Argument and Baloney Detection/Logical Fallacies concepts to analyze sources, now you need to turn this analysis on its head and use it to plot a deliberate, cunning, persuasive strategy: Outline your argument, including every element of the argument and citing sources and the factual materials you will use as grounds and backing. Describe in specific terms how you will employ ethos, pathos and appeals to values to persuade your audience/opposition.

So, there are three parts of this step:

1) A fully developed outline of your own argument.  Cite your sources in text, MLA-style.

2) A two to three page typed description of your audience and your strategy -- an analysis of the Lines of Argument they will likely find persuasive and how you plan on using these Lines in your paper. Your evidence must be valid, but you can use bad logic in your final paper if you justify it in this portion of the project. In other words, if you will attempt to hoodwink your audience you must explain here how you'll do so and why you believe it's justifiable and ethical.

3) An MLA-style Works Cited page including your original source and three or more sources you will cite in your final paper.
