Drake English 207

Final Project:
    Part A: Rebuttal Strategy Outline...10%

This part of the assignment is nearly identical to the Pseudo-Science OutlinesThe only difference is that you will spend more time developing your own rebuttal ("Conditions of Rebuttal") by citing counter evidence, and you develop and describe your own rhetorical strategy.

1) Analyze the Source's Rhetorical Strategy: how it uses the Lines of Argument.

2) Outline the Explicit and Implicit Reasons and their relevant evidence.

3) For each Reason, evaluate the source's validity: logic and evidence; identify Logical Fallacies etc.  Make sure you use direct quotes and present the source's argument fairly, completely and accurately.

4) For each Reason, present your own Conditions of Rebuttal in the form of counter evidence.  Make sure to cite your sources.

5) Outline how you will use the Lines of Argument to persuade your source. To do so, you will need to describe the ethos, pathos and values appeals that will likely persuade your source/audience; for example, based on your analysis of the source, who do they trust and how will you establish yourself in relation to that trust; what types of emotional appeals persuade them, and how, specifically, will you incorporate those into your paper; what values inform their position on this topic, and how will you appeal to those values?
