Pre-requisites: English 102. Having taken an advanced writing course (200 or 300 level) or a course dealing with creative non-fiction would be nice but is not required. NOTE: You don't need to have traveled extensively to take this course. The writing assignments will not require traveling a long distance, but you do need to be willing and able to go/travel to places close to Moscow. If you're planning to go somewhere for spring break, you can write about that trip. If you currently engage outdoors activities you can write about that. Of course, if you have traveled in the past, you can write about those travels (this will work if you kept a journal or took photos). COURSE GOALS: Travel Writing will give students a chance to read travel writing and write about their own travels (whether near or far, exotic or basic). Mainly we'll focus on techniques of creative non-fiction to write essays about travel. This course will give you a chance to learn the craft of travel writing and write about your travels. We'll also read other articles I've selected and put on the UI Library Web reserve. Assignments:
