Please respond to the following letter. Be sure to answer all the questions.  Please do your best to write correctly and clearly and to use a proper business letter format.  This assignment will not be graded but will help me know who you are and what your writing is like.

Note: keep this short--100 words max.

Dear Applicant:

We are happy to inform you that you are among the 120 applicants we are considering for employment with ProInfo International. Your records are impressive, and we believe you would be an asset to our firm.

Because of the large number of applicants and the limited number of positions, however, further screening is necessary.  For our purposes interviews are insufficient:  we have found that the skills we seek are best demonstrated in a reflective, rather than pressured, situation. Thus, we require applicants to submit a written statement explaining their educational background and why they decided to go into the field they have chosen.

In a brief three or four paragraph letter, please give us the following information about yourself:

1.      What is your educational experience? Be sure to state your class or when you will graduate.  Please mention what types of English writing courses you have taken, especially English 102  and where you took it (if not at the U of I).

2. What is your major and what are your main educational interests?

3. Why did you choose your major?

4. What kinds of research have you done in the past?

5. What specific topics would you like to research and explore further?  (These topics probably would be related to your major but this is not necessary. Try to be specific.)

6. Are you currently engaged in any specific research, or do you know of any research you will have to complete this    semester?   If so, briefly explain it and tell why you are working on the project.  Why is the project worthwhile?

7. What kinds of practical experience have you had in your field?

8. What do you expect to gain from working in your field?

We look forward to reading the analysis of yourself and your goals.

  Sincerely,

  Phil Druker
