Ensemble Amarcord
Tuesday October 23, 2007

Five former choristers of the famous St. Thomas Boy's Choir in Leipzig have emerged as continental Europe's finest male a cappella quintet. Amarcord's blend of charm, flawless intonation, rarely heard homogeneity, and vocal virtuosity have left audiences delighted since the ensemble's debut in 1992.

They first appeared on the Auditorium Series in 2002. More recently, they swept both classical categories in the 2006 Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards (CARA), winning both Best Classical Album and Best Classical Song. A Fanfare Magazine critic commented "I was quite astonished by the excellence of the group in every aspect, from tonal quality to homogeneous ensemble to interpretive insight." Amarcord's repertoire spans six centuries of European and American music.
