Portland invested a great deal to remove a highway that dominated the water edge. Their wonderful waterfront park now emphasizes the Williamette River and provides a more positive image of the city. The images on this page illustrate the well used, existing waterfront park. The park can be improved with visual barriers, tree-lined esplanades, more beach access, more activities, and covered seating for all season use.
