Goals
|
1.Design a community so the community and
many other people can use. 2.Make a good use out of the existing site.
3.Design the community that has commute transportation for the
community to use.
4.The density of residential housing should not be less than 10 units
per acres.
5.Designing a community t for a short distance to walk.

Program
|
When doing a revitalization of East
Lewiston, what I really want to do was to provide a place where
people can live and doing what they are doing in everyday life.
The most important so they feel like they are home. So designing a
residential housing , retail shops, commercial and many other to fit in
this 511 acres area. By doing this I designed a 2 story that
almost close to each with a parking lot right in front of their house
and a very nice back yard area. Also 3 story apartment all
around the area with the the mix-use of the many other commercials
and retail stores around it. |
Schematic Design

For the schematic design we all did
several, and later on pick the one that we think most suitable for the
area. I did couple of this the design and it turn the one
the I choose was the one the will best work for the area. |

This is the master of plan of the East
Lewiston. It has the overview of everything that has been change
during the revitalize. |
Master Plan

The master has all the community
residential housing the mix-used of the commercial and retail shops and
the apartment complex. The most important was the transportation the
will taking people to working everyday if they don't want to drive.
For the Master Plan instead of having a light rail for the community to
use I design to have a city bus that will go around the suburban area
and downtown. As you can see in the master plan the bottom of the east
side the master plan has a lot of the residential housing the reason is
that because I want to separate a little bit of the residential houses
from the downtown so they can have their own privacy. The downtown
is located in central of the Eat Lewiston. Most of the downtown area has
several mixed-use of several commercials retail and residential.
There also a little square right before downtown. Those square is
for people to use is served as a public use and park. |

2 Churches
2 Main parking lots
10 units/acre
1 Elementary school and mixed use of residential, retail and
commercials area.
Plants suggestion:
Trees: Golden plain trees, Honey Locus and black Locus, maple trees
and American lindens.
Shrubs: Burning bushes, Sea shrubs, Japanese maples, junipers and
Viburnums. |
Focus Area

This the focus area of the mix-used of the
residential and retail and commercial area. Plan drawing of
downtown connecting to the community. The focus area only focus in
mostly downtown area. Because they think this is a good way to
show what is going on this downtown and community. This is the area that
mostly going to be busy of all. The place to work and live and
hang out. Especially the square in the center that has to be a lot
of things for the town. It bringing people to together. Also
it can serve as a market place like the friendship square in downtown
Moscow. The square the can serve several things for the community.
Almost everywhere people go around this town they will see either retail
store or apartment complex right above it. Right by the huge
apartment complex there is a bus station. This is what make the a
better place to live. Because if people don't want to walk for a
long distance they could always taking the bus to town. |

The also the plan detail drawings of both
focus area down below. The one on the left is the focus are for
the square and downtown. The one on the right is the focus area for the
apartment complex. The choose these two place because I want
to compare the places of how they will work and how to two are
connected. The square seem like it sitting there alone they both
serve a lot of thing for people. a provide a place for people to live.

This is the perspective view of the square.
The square is located right in center of the downtown area. The
purpose of the square is for place to gather around. A place to
hang out it served like a friendship square in downtown Moscow. In
the square it has a gazebo and the water fountain, and it pavement
instead of grass. The reason it is because it much better to have
pavement than the grass so people don't have to taking care as much.
Along the side that are a lot of plants that are plan along there, they
are golden plain trees. |

This is a detail perspective of East
Downtown Lewiston will look like. As you can see I'm trying to
make this place like a place they people can use and feel like they are
at home. There are several angle parking a long the street.
This will help the downtown to have so much of of parking lot. The most
important it a short distance walk for the community. The detail
there are 3 story building the bottom part is serve as a retail store
and the top 2 is serve for business and apartment. The drawing
show that the sidewalk is big enough that the retail store can put there
outdoor and table and chairs out the customer to use and buy. The
purpose of this was to give a community a welcome place. |

Detail of the apartment complex, it is a 3
story building and they most likely to connect to each other. The
drawing show that there are porches in front of each apartment complex,
the purpose of this is to have people using the porch during their
free-time and many other thing. This can serve as a place for
people to hang out. This a relaxation spot after along hard
working day. Most of these apartment complex has either 1-3 bedroom
apartment, but no more than three. What did not show in the
perspective was the parking lot in the back. They are for
apartment and visitor to use. This is the long the apartment
complex that has several parking lot all around the apartment. |
