TO DROP WORKSHOPS:

Regulations for dropping accelerated or short courses (e.g. workshops) are available in full in the UI Catalog, Part Three.  See the catalog for confirmation, but the following presents a basic overview.  If less than 12.5% of the class-meeting hours have been completed (whether or not the student attended such hours), students can drop on-line or with a drop form and no W is recorded on their transcript.  If more than 12.5% but less than 60% of the class-meeting hours have been completed (whether or not the student attended such hours), students can drop with advisor signature by filing a drop form with the registrar and a W will be recorded. If 60% or more of the class-meeting hours have been completed (whether or not the student attended such hours), students must petition to the Academic Petitions Committee.  If the petition is successful, a W will be recorded.  For workshops offered in one weekend, then, students registered in the workshop MUST DROP the workshop BEFORE the first meeting time if they decide not to attend. For workshops spread over time, the regulations from the UI Catalog will apply.
