DESCRIPTION:
This one credit sociology workshop examines
the issues of disabilities. The
workshop provides basic information over the numbers of people with
disabilities and the various types of disabilities.
Students will learn about the three R’s of disabilities: rights,
responsibilities, and resources. Students will develop skills for
positively interacting with people with disabilities through discussion,
role playing, studying case studies, experiential activities, and other
interactive exercises. The
workshop can be used for upper division sociology elective credits and/or
for the applied component of the Diversity & Stratification
certificate.
REQUIREMENTS:
Full attendance is required and other
requirements will be discussed during the workshop.
