DESCRIPTION:

This workshop is designed to effectively educate individuals on understanding the Arab

culture. It covers the main areas of concern such as etiquette, communication,

relationship building, traditions and more. The aim is to provide you with the

knowledge, know-how and confidence to communicate effectively with Middle East

nationals

Workshop Objectives:

The Middle East Cultural Awareness Training workshop will provide you with:

1. In-depth cultural awareness and understanding

2. The necessary foundation and tools to become culturally competent

3. A better understanding of the cultural challenges and miscommunications

4. The ability to identify potential causes of cross-cultural conflict and learn new

strategies for managing them.

Culture awareness is crucial and much in demand between nations in today’s

globalization. In response to the increase of demand for this need, MECA offers Middle

East culture awareness training to effectively educate individuals on communicating and

understanding the Arab culture.

Understanding and appreciating intercultural differences ultimately promotes clearer

communication, breaks down barriers, builds trust and strengthens relationships.

The Workshop includes:

• Importance of Cultural Awareness

• Theoretical Cross cultural models and examples

• Steps to effective cross cultural communication

• The definition of the Arab culture and the Middle East

• Common misconceptions and stereotypes

• Coverage of religious and ethnic diversity

• The Arab Dress

• Gender hierarchy and the Middle Eastern family structure

• Society, customs, values and traditions

• Middle east social and business etiquette

• The Arabic Language

• Verbal and non verbal communication

• Arab homes and architecture

• Role of Islam on social and business practices

• The Palestinian refugee problem and Arab communities in exile

REQUIREMENTS:

Full attendance during all sessions is required.  Further course and evaluation procedures and requirements will be discussed during the first day of workshop activities.
