COURSE SCHEDULE
LISTING: SOC 403 WS: 36th Annual Popcorn Forum
CRN: 60191
The theme for
the 36th annual Popcorn Forum is “A Journey Through Time: A Dialogue with
the Great Minds From History.” The Popcorn Forum presents several days of
keynote addresses, workshops and panels concerning the central theme and
provides students an opportunity this spring to earn 1 workshop credit toward the Certificate in Diversity and Stratification. All Popcorn
Forum events will take place on the
North
Idaho
College campus (except for the 9th Annual Human Rights Banquet)
and are free and open to the public (except for the Banquet which costs
$25). To earn one credit towards the certificate, students must register
for the workshop credit PRIOR to attending the Popcorn Forum and
email John Mihelich informing him of the student’s participation. Students
must then attend 15 hours of activities from the Popcorn Forum Schedule.
The amount of events available for this year is more limited than in the
past, so, to meet the required 15 hours, students will need to attend events
nearly every day. Please contact John Mihelich if you have any questions
about attending. After attending, students are required to write a brief
synopsis of each event attended AND a two-page (single-spaced) summary essay
explaining what they learned and how the experience contributed to their
diversity education. The credit is graded based on attendance and the
quality of the written submissions.
Written materials must be
