The theme for the 34th annual Popcorn Forum is
“Celebrating Canadian-American Friendship.”
The Popcorn Forum presents several days of keynote addresses,
workshops and panels concerning the central theme and provides students an
opportunity this spring to earn 1 directed studies credit toward the
Certificate in Diversity and Stratification.
All Popcorn Forum events will take place on the North Idaho College
campus and are free and open to the public (except for 7th
Annual Human Rights Banquet which costs $25).
To earn one credit towards the certificate, students must register
for the directed studies credit PRIOR to attending the Popcorn Forum and
email one of the coordinators of the certificate program informing them of
the student’s participation. Students
must then attend 15 hours of activities from the list below.
After attending, students are required to write a brief synopsis of
each event attended AND a one-page (single-spaced) summary essay
explaining what they learned and how the experience contributed to their
diversity education. The credit is graded based on attendance and the
quality of the written submissions. For
